Ha is a research fellow at the Institute for North Korean Studies at. Dongguk University. Ha obtained a doctoral degree from University of North Korean Studies, and is interested in research of North Korean social culture, music and media. Ha served as a visiting research fellow at Keio University in Japan and an official for administrative affairs at the Intelligence and Analysis Office General Analysis Division of the Ministry of Unification. Ha’s theses include “A Study on Perception Types Regarding North Korean Samjiyon Orchestra Performances in South Korea: Using Q Methodology” (North Korean Studies Review, 2019), "Perception Change and Usage of North Korea’s Musical Geniuses," (The Korean Journal of Arts Studies, 2019), and "A Study of North Korean TV Show ‘Nationwide Singing Contest for Workers’" (North Korean Studies Review, 2017).
