Hitomi Koyama Global Liberal Arts

Hitomi Koyama is an Associate Dean and Associate Professor in the College of Global Liberal Arts at Ritsumeikan University, Japan.

She received her Ph.D. in Political Science at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 2015, and she worked for Australian Catholic University, Ryukoku University, and Leiden University prior to joining Ritsumeikan University in 2019.

She situates her work at the intersection of comparative political theory and the global history of theorizing inter-‘national’ existence and coexistence.

Her most recent book monograph is On the Persistence of the Japanese History Problem: Historicism and the International Politics of History (2018).

She is currently working on her second project on peace dementia and realism in postwar Japan.
